Reproductive Psychiatry & Women’s Mental Health
Dr. Michael specializes in integrative reproductive psychiatry and women’s mental health, with expertise in the evaluation and treatment of psychiatric symptoms across the reproductive lifespan, with particular focus on premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), and mood changes related to perimenopause and menopause.
She is passionate about helping women navigate the hormonal transitions of midlife, integrating psychiatric care with evidence-based lifestyle and medical strategies to optimize wellbeing. Dr. Michael also works closely with individuals and families coping with perinatal loss and infertility, and she has specialized training in supporting those pursuing family building through donor conception and gestational carriers. She frequently collaborates with internists, OB/GYNs, and reproductive and general endocrinologists to ensure cohesive, multidisciplinary treatment planning.
For pregnant patients, Dr. Michael develops personalized pregnancy and postpartum support plans tailored to each individual’s needs and preferences—addressing sleep preservation, feeding approaches, nutrition, and movement. In the postpartum period, she incorporates attachment-based and psychodynamic psychotherapy to support the mother–infant bond, facilitate the transition to motherhood, and strengthen evolving relationships within the family.
As a proud member of the Menopause Society, Dr. Michael provides specialized care for women in the perimenopausal and menopausal transition, focusing on mood, cognition, and quality of life during this pivotal stage.
