About Dr. Lesley Michael
Lesley Michael, DO, PMH-C (she/her) is a NYC-based psychiatrist, board-certified in child & adolescent and adult psychiatry, with expertise in reproductive/women’s and integrative psychiatry.
Dr. Michael is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and an attending psychiatrist at Lenox Hill Hospital (LHH). She previously served as Lead Psychiatrist for Lenox Hill’s Reproductive Mental Health Program, a multidisciplinary initiative providing comprehensive care for individuals navigating preconception, pregnancy, postpartum, perinatal loss, and fertility-related challenges.
Dr. Michael earned her B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University, where she served as a lab assistant to psychologist and mother–infant communication pioneer Dr. Beatrice Beebe. She received her medical degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in Adult Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. Dr. Michael then pursued a clinical fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center–Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM), followed by a one-year research fellowship through AECOM’s University Scholars Program in Integrative Medicine and Psychiatry. Her research focused on the role of nutritional supplements in psychiatric disorders—both for prevention and treatment—and explored complementary and alternative healing modalities.
Dr. Michael has advanced training in reproductive psychopharmacology. She is certified in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) by Postpartum Support International (PSI), a distinction indicating specialization and experience in treating people before, during, and after pregnancy. She is also a member of the Katz Institute for Women’s Health at Northwell and the Menopause Society. She frequently lectures, teaches, and publishes on the intricate relationship between hormonal fluctuations and mental health, and collaborates closely with physician colleagues across specialties in this area.
Dr. Michael is licensed to practice medicine in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
